Sudha Rajagopalan, originally from India, is Senior Lecturer in (East) European Studies at the University of Amsterdam. Her publications in Soviet cultural history focus on films and material objects in Soviet transnational connections during the Cold War. Her first book, Indian Films in Soviet Cinemas: the Culture of Moviegoing after Stalin (IUP, Bloomington, 2009), drew on archival research and oral history methods and is considered a pioneering ethnohistory of Soviet moviegoing. She is also a scholar of digital media and has published on issues related to celebrity, identity, post-feminism and memory in Russian digital cultures. Her work is underpinned by an abiding interest in everyday life and consumption, both historical and contemporary.
